My capstone collection, A Sheep in Wolves’ Clothing, recontextualizes the common saying and encompasses the idea of vulnerability and discovery of self identity. My creations provide the feeling of connection with the Earth and act as an extension of oneself in their truest form.

The collection is inspired by the common saying “a wolf in sheep’s clothing”. Looking at the idiom in a surface level meaning, its about someone with power who is using it for malicious intent, being deceitful for personal gain. With the changing of the words I wanted to give a new meaning, the sheep is someone who is struggling to find a sense of identity amongst others who seem so sure in themselves. In their search they try to fit to conform, but truly in the end it is about them embracing their true nature. A Sheep in Wolves’ Clothing is a collection that is meant to feel like a second skin. The clothing allows you to feel confident through its’ unique details, while still maintaining overall comfort.
The line is also heavily inspired by the Earth. The primarily natural fibers and neutral color palette reflect this. The textures of the fabrics and the traditional tie and button closures are meant to give an almost excavated feel, as if the garments were sealed away for a long time and are being uncovered after hundreds of years. Imagery that came to mind when conceptualizing this line is someone who is crawling out from the Earth or mud, a person who is entirely sprung from the Earth itself.
